About Pokémon

Pokémon is an anime series based on the extremely popular Japanese video game, Pocket Monsters. Both the game and the TV show have been an immense hit. In Pokémon (or Pocket Monsters, as it is called in Japan), there are 150 (151, counting the mythical Mew, a secret Pokémon) monsters which you catch in Pokéballs and train to battle other monsters. The story begins in Pallet Town, when 10-year-old Ash Ketchum starts out to become a Pokémon Master. But his ex-friend and rival, Gary Oak, always seems to be one step ahead of him, and in the end, Ash must defeat him to earn the title of Pokémon Master. In the game, you control Ash, and after choosing between the three starter Pokémon at the beginning of the game (Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander), your rival will choose one (which is directly the opposite type of yours, i.e. you choose Bulbasaur, he takes Charmander, you choose Squirtle, he takes Bulbasaur, you choose Charmander, he takes Squirtle) and you set off. The objectives are to defeat all 8 Gym Leaders, defeat the Elite Four at Indigo Plateau, defeat Gary, and collect all 150 Pokémon. For more information, slide on into Pokemon.com.
